More about Makarska

Makarska is the largest town that lies in the 200k coast between Dubrovnik and Split, 60k from Split. It was one of the first towns to have a large tourist industry in Croatia and is now where many people take their annual holiday. The town evolved around a large horseshoe bay with towering mountains behind. The clear sea, and palm fringed beaches, the fashionable restaurants, bars and active nightlife are many reasons why this town and area is known as the Makarska Riviera.

Real estate in Makarska and property in the Makarska area is modestly priced compared to the bigger towns of Dubrovnik and Split.

Anyone looking for a cheap property on the coast of Croatia should start here. The main reasons are the distance from the airports of either Split or Dubrovnik, and Croatian island property has certain exclusivity (Split airport is less than one and a half hours). If this was not a prohibitive factor then Makarska property is great value.

It has a longer tourist season and, being on the mainland, is generally quicker to reach than the islands.
