The island of Brac is the largest (400 sq km) in Dalmatia and has the shortest ferry crossing from Split, about 40 minutes. It has a resident population all year and ferries go every few hours to Supetar. From there, there is an integrated public transport service about the island. A tightening of building rules means that less are now being built, so people are now looking for old Brac property to refurbish.
